Issy’s Clear Vision

At just 18, Isabella Stanfield – known to many as Issy – has become a much-loved part of the Variety family. A Variety Heart Scholarship recipient, her powerful voice and passionate performances with her band, Clear Vision, have lit up stages and hearts across countless Variety events.

Issy lives with bilateral disc atrophy and is legally blind. While her vision is limited to changes in light and vague shapes, her outlook has always been focused firmly on possibility. Guided by her love of music, Issy has transformed obstacles into opportunity, using braille to read and sound to connect with the world around her.

Her musical journey began early – from drumming on formula tins as a toddler to teaching herself on a $20 keyboard from Cash Converters. Since then, she has performed with the Variety Kids Choir, entertained audiences at Variety events, and built a community through sharing her passion online.

Today, Issy continues to pursue her dream of a career in music. From growing her skills in singing and songwriting to exploring new sounds and genres, she is determined to keep learning, creating and performing. Whether on stage with Clear Vision or playing in local cafés, Issy is proof of what can happen when young people are supported to follow what they love.

As Issy marks her final year as a Variety Heart Scholarship recipient, her journey stands as a powerful reminder of the impact encouragement can have – and the inspiration one young person can spark in others. For the next generation of children chasing big dreams, Issy’s story shows that possibility can sound different for everyone, but it deserves to be heard.
